Asian Handicap Markets has becoming an alternative to the traditional ?1X2? betting markets. It has been in existence in
Asian handicap is a betting system of giving or taking handicaps, it?s an easy system that give the 2 teams an equal chance to win using their respective handicaps. The odds should, therefore, be evens assuming the correct handicaps have been assigned.
How does it work?
A handicap is assigned to each team in a match. In other words, one team will give ball (-ve) and the other will take (+ve). The punter chooses which team to bet on using the offered handicaps. At the end of the match, the handicap is added to the team that the punter has backed, and the bet is settled. Let take an example:
Man U Vs Arsenal
Man U = -1 , odds 2.0 Arsenal = +1, odds 1.9
In this case, if the match ended with 0-0, the punter who bets on arsenal will have to add the handicap to the final score of arsenal 0 + 1 =1, gives a final 0-1 to arsenal. This means that arsenal wins the match through the handicap, the punter wins the bet.
Vice versa, if the punter bets on Man U, the handicap must be added to the final score of Man u 0 + (-1) = -1 , gives a final score of -1 ? 0. This means Man U loses the match through the handicap, and the punter loses the bet.
The handicaps may differ according to the bookmakers. It can be from .025, 0.5, 0.75 to 3.0, 4.0 and so on, in multiples of 0.25. Usually, the stronger teams will have a ?ve handicap, and the weaker will have a +ve handicap.
Now regarding the odds, if Man U wins according through handicap, example if Man U win by 2 goals or more. Then, the winning of the punters who bet on Man U, will be their stake multiplied with the odds example, for 100Usd stake, the return will be 200 usd.
If arsenal wins through handicap, then it will be the stake multiplied with the odds. Example, for 100 Usd stake, the return will be 190 usd.
If the match ended with a draw according to the asian handicap, such as if Man U wins by 1 goal. (1-0, 2-1, 3-2) then the initial stake will return to the punters without any win or lose. But usually, bookmakers will give the handicap such as 0.25, 0.5, to prevent a draw.
Now lets talk about handicaps such as 0.25, 0.75, 1.25, 1.75 and etc.
0.25 = between (0 ? 0.5)
0.75 = between (0.5 -1.0)
1.25 = between (1.0- 1.5)
1.75 = between (1.5 ? 2.0)
If you bet on a match with 0.25 handicap, it means, your bet is between (0, 0.5).To calculate the winning, split your stake by betting half on 0 handicap, and another half on 0.5 handicap. For example,
Man U Vs Arsenal
Man U = -0.25 , odds 2.0 Arsenal = +0.25, odds 1.9
The final score is 0-0
The punter bets 100 usd on Arsenal.
To calculate, we split the stake into two separate bets with separate handicap.
i) 50usd on Arsenal with 0 handicap, and
ii) 50usd on Arsenal with 0.5 handicap
For the 1st bet, the final score include the handicap is 0-0, the stake of 50usd is return to the punter.
For the 2nd bet, the final score include the handicap is 0-0.5, arsenal wins and the return is (50 x 1.9) = 95usd to the punter.
In total, the punter will get the return of 145usd(which is include the winning and the initial stake)
Vice versa, if the punter bets 100usd on Man U, by doing the same calculation, the punter will lose half of its initial stake, 50usd.
For beginners, when the handicap is multiplied by 0.25, it?s advise to use this method of calculation.
Once you get used to these handicaps, automatically u will get an idea of the calculation. It is either
i) You win all, or you win half of your stake and get back half of your stake,
ii) You lose all, or lose half of your stake.
